July 2005 - Ever since the announcement that Walmart was thinking of coming to Crookston there has been rumors that it is and isn't coming. KROX's Chris Fee talked with City Administrator Aaron Parrish about where the Walmart issue stands. Parrish said, "At this point we are still continuing to talk to Walmart, they have indicated an interest in coming to Crookston, they still have maintained that interest. We've been talking to them a little bit about more specific details in terms of storm sewer development in that area. The city has indicated a strong willingness to work with them and helping to finance some of that and talking about how we can get the storm sewer problem up where they're potentially going to locate in the area resolved. But nothing definitive at this point, they are still sort of in that evaluation mode, so nothing one way or the other, coming or not coming, we are still pretty light on information."

When asked about the possibilities of other new businesses coming to town Parrish said, "With the talk of Walmart we get a lot of calls from other businesses that are potentially interested in coming and a lot of it is predicated on whether they (Walmart) do or don't come. I will say that we have had a strong level of interest from different retail segments should Walmart come."
